It was a long and competitive Season 4 of Corn Warriors, and the farmers left it all on the field after a difficult battle to become Corn King. With a yield of 385.44 BU/A and a PWR Score of 9.08, our Season 4 winner Kevins Kalb celebrated in style at our crowning ceremony in Indianapolis, Indiana. Presented by Pivot Bio, the Crowning Ceremony featured a discussion with all of our Corn Warriors and the crowning of current Corn King Kevin sKalb.

In addition to the crowning of Kevin Kalb, we are also happy to announce the winner of the competition to be on the next season of Corn Warriors is Chad Henderson from Madison, Alabama! Chad is a fourth-generation farmer that is the current corn production record holder for Alabama with a yield of 355 BU/A. A proud family man and problem solver, Chad works with his father, cousin, and son at Henderson Farms on over 8,000 acres of land. We’re very excited to have Chad on the show and we look forward to seeing what sort of creative solutions he can come up with in his effort to win Season 5 of Corn Warriors. Learn more about Chad Henderson at his Warrior Page.

We appreciate all of our nominated farmers that fought to be on the next season of Corn Warriors, and our fans for participating in the voting process. We’d also like to thank our panel of experts that made the decision to have Chad on the show, and we’re very excited to see him compete alongside the other farmers.

By: Justin Roberts Nov 26, 2018

John Deere, as ever, is pressing ahead with the application of digital technology to daily farm operations.

Its latest endeavour is known as ‘MyOperations’ and comes as a free app for smartphones.

This download allows users to see machine and field data remotely – from their mobile phones or tablets.

According to John Deere, this means that farmers and contractors can experience less downtime, as well as reduce operating costs, by always knowing where machines are and what they are doing.

Use of the MyOperations app requires an online John Deere ‘Operations Centre’ account – connected to a machine’s JDLink telematics system. It’s suitable for use with any internet-connected smartphone (equipped with iOS system 10.0 or Android system 4.4 or later).

The personalised Operations Centre in MyJohnDeere.com can be used (anywhere and, apparently, at any time) to look up both historic operation information and current data coming off the field.

Initially trialled on John Deere S700 Series combines this season, the app enabled users to remotely view and change basic combine settings.

Once settings have been altered, the operator can confirm the adjustments on the in-cab display.

On-Screen Data

Information available within the app includes location history. This feature shows where all machines (within the business) have driven that day.

In addition, machine measurements (including engine utilisation and fuel level), field maps and productivity data can also be accessed.

Remote Display Access (RDA) is also available within the app. MyOperations users can also view machine notifications, such as curfew alerts, low fuel alerts and diagnostic codes.

Reed Havlik is a young boy in Jesup with a rare terminal genetic brain disease known as Vanishing White Matter.

According to the Facebook Page Team Reed, “At the age of two, Reed was a normal developing boy running around, happy, healthy and loving life. On November 1st, 2014 Reed woke up from his nap struggling to walk. After months of testing, and no answers, Reed was diagnosed with Vanishing White Matter Disease. Reed is one of less than 200 people in the world with VWM, odds of having VWM are one in 40 million,”

John Deere gave Reed a special morning earlier this week! The day started with a tour of tractor assembly operations. Workers also let Reed go through training and made him a certified assembly tech.

It is now growing season across the Corn Belt of the United States. Seeds that have just been sown will, with the right mixture of sunshine and rain, be knee-high plants by the Fourth of July and tall stalks with ears ripe for picking by late August.

Corn is much more than great summer picnic food, however. Civilization owes much to this plant, and to the early people who first cultivated it.

For most of human history, our ancestors relied entirely on hunting animals and gathering seeds, fruits, nuts, tubers and other plant parts from the wild for food. It was only about 10,000 years ago that humans in many parts of the world began raising livestock and growing food through deliberate planting. These advances provided more reliable sources of food and allowed for larger, more permanent settlements. Native Americans alone domesticated nine of the most important food crops in the world, including corn, more properly called maize (Zea mays), which now provides about 21 percent of human nutrition across the globe.

PRINCETON — More than 500 farmers and agribusiness representatives from this part of the Midwest gathered Monday for the first annual Field Day event hosted by Hefty Seed Company — Princeton.

The gathering was planned to take place at the Denton farm on Route 26, just north of Princeton. However, because of rain, it was moved to the Hefty Seed Company — Princeton business location on 1800 North Avenue, just east of the Holland and Sons John Deere dealership, on the morning of the event.

The rain, however, didn’t put a damper on the anticipation many had to hear from America’s top producers of corn and soybeans.

Hefty Seed Company — Princeton hosted the country’s highest-yield farmers who have been featured on the popular documentary television show, “Corn Warriors.”
